Vera Mae (Coker) Ard, age 81, of Courtland, MS died peacefully Saturday, June 22, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 21, 1937 in Quitman Co, MS to the late Odell and Vernie (Bonner) Coker. Spending time in her flower garden was a tremendous passion, but nothing compared to the love she held for her family.
Visitation is planned for Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Hosanna Family Worship Center in Pope, MS from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Her celebration of life will begin at 11:00 AM with Bro. Damon Plummer and Bro. John Howell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville MS with Ruben Pauley, Michael Palmer, Benjamin Ard, Chance Livingston, Paul Keel, Daniel Palmer, and Adam Ard serving as pallbearers.
Vera is survived by two sons, John Ard (Janie) and James Ard, both of Courtland, MS; two daughters, Linda McMinn (Mark) of Pope, MS and Nancy Keel (Paul) of Courtland, MS; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Cecil Coker of Batesville, MS; four sisters, Cathryn Ward of Batesville, MS, Janie Williams of Spokane, WA, Joann Godsey of Brandon, MS and Peggy Johnson of Clinton, MS; as well as her care givers, which she considered family, Rita Bailey and Judith Smith.
As well as her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Ard; one brother, Thomas (Son) Coker; and two sisters, Mary Moore and Frances Coker.
