Mr. Tony Paul Provenza, a devoted father, grandfather and husband peacefully departed this world on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 12, 1925, in Greenville, MS. Tony leaves behind a legacy of integrity and hard work.
Beginning his academic journey at St. Rose of Lima and later attending Greenville High School, Mr. Provenza continued on to the University of Mississippi, where he obtained a master's degree in accounting as well as a law degree. His thirst for knowledge and dedication to his craft propelled him to a successful career in the financial industry, where he made significant contributions as an esteemed accountant.
In a chapter of his life marked by bravery and sacrifice, Mr. Provenza joined the US Marines in 1943, serving his country with honor during World War II. His valor was evident as he participated in pivotal battles, including the invasion and capture of the Peleliu Palau Islands and Guam. His tour of duty concluded with the occupation of Tsing Tao in North China. Throughout his military service, Mr. Provenza distinguished himself as an expert marksman and adept radio operator, earning numerous commendations for his exemplary service.
Tony will forever be cherished by one son, Tony Paul (Linda) Provenza; two daughters, Pat (Brant) Atchley, Karen (Rob) Cummings; three grandchildren, Lauren Gray, Lauren Atchley and Eli Cummings; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Aydan; as well as a wide circle of family and friends whose lives he enriched with his kindness and wisdom. A man of unwavering principles and steadfast commitment, Mr. Provenza's presence will be deeply missed.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Camille Provenza; and his wife, Ellie F. Provenza; four brothers; and three sisters.
An opportunity for all who knew him to pay their respects will be held during a visitation Saturday, March 23, 2024, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. Services will immediately follow at 2:30 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Billy Childs officiating. Burial will be in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in eternal peace.
