Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of saints
Psalm 116-15
Mrs. Rebbie Hoskin Love Kerr was born on October 7, 1926, in Water
Valley, Mississippi, to the parents of George McKinley and Maggie Ruth
Hoskin. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age
and united with Springhill Missionary Baptist. She attended the Yalobusha
County School. She married R. B. Love on August 20, 1944. Nine children
were born into this union.
Mrs. Kerr spent her early years of marriage as a housewife caring for the
home and her children. After all of the children were in school, she went to
work as a domestic worker and continued to do domestic work after her
husband passed away in 1961. She later went to work at the Big Yank
Factory until her retirement. She worked there for twenty years or more.
Mrs. Kerr’s life centered around her children, parents, siblings, and other
family members. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family.
After all the children had grown up, she met and married Doyle Kerr and
moved her church membership to Oak Grove CME Church. After he died,
she transferred her membership to Miles Memorial CME Church and was a
dedicated Women’s Missionary Society member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Dorothy
Love; son, Willie McKinley Love; one grandson, Kenneth A. Love; one
great-grandson, Courtland Love; and one great-great-granddaughter, Aliya
Travis; two sisters, Chessie Conway and Louise Marion; two brothers,
Robert Hoskin and Earnest Hoskin.
Mrs. Kerr entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at
Yalobusha County Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her precious
memory: two sons, Larry Love of Water Valley, MS, and Edward L. Love
(Dortheia) of Waco, TX; five daughters, Shirley Denson, Rubye Carr (Joe),
Ruthie Thompson of Chicago, Annie Tucker of Butler, Wl and Carolyn
Hawkins (Larry) of Locus Grove, GA; one sister, Hazel Hoskin Crowder of
Chicago, IL; twenty grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 17 greatgreat-grandchildren; 1 honorary daughter, Merry Goode of Chicago, IL; one God-daughter, Kim Hervey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are
the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit
that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
Revelation 14:13
