Percy Lee Hickey was born to the union of the late Tom Hickey, Sr. and Polly Ann Creasy Hickey on April 8, 1930 in Water Valley, MS. She departed this life July 15, 2020 at the Baptist Hospital at Oxford, MS.
Mother gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Harris Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church at Water Valley where she remained a faithful member. Mother served faithfully in her ministry for Christ as Deaconate, Stewardess, Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, and volunteered wherever she was needed.
Mother was often asked to sing solos at different church functions and she sang in the church choir. She also sang at the local radio station located in Water Valley.
Mother married Sherman Lee Rogers, Sr. on August 1, 1948. They were blessed to raise nine children and all of the grandchildren.
Mother enjoyed many pastime activities - taking care of her cats and dogs, gardening, sewing, but her greatest love was taking care of her babies. She took care of her friends, neighbors, and helped and fed anyone in need. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word out of her mouth. She never met a stranger and loved talking on her telephone.
Percy Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Sherman Rogers, Sr.; one son, Sherman Rogers, Jr. (Butch); two grandsons, Tory Sanders and Raiteri Rogers; four brothers, JB Carter, Henry Carter, Tom Hickey, Jr. and Matthew Hickey; two sisters, Levi Creasy and Flossie Kerr.
In her homecoming Percy Lee leaves to cherish her memory; one son, Michael Rogers; seven daughters, Gloria Jackson, Ginger Walton (Thomas), Joyce Jenkins (Leonard), Carolyn Rogers, Sharon Sanders (Cornel), Lynda Rogers and Dahlia Rogers; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother-in-law Lucius Rogers (Carlene); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves a special friend and neighbor, Betty Ward.

Seven Oaks Funeral Home’s number one priority during these unprecedented times, is the health of our staff, our families, our visitors, and our community. With this in mind, we are adhering to guidelines set forth by the CDC, Gov. Tate Reeves, and the Mississippi Department of Health. At this time, we are asking everyone to support the limited gathering and visitation policies mandated by our government officials, which include a maximum of 50 people in the funeral home, or alternate place of service, at one time for visitations and funerals, or 100 people at graveside services. We are also asking everyone to comply with the required social distancing space of six feet, as well as advising against intimate contact such as, hand-shaking, hugging, and kissing. Although it is not presently required, we are encouraging the use of face masks.
