Norma Faye Prine (78) passed away peacefully at her twin sister’s home December 19, 2023 in Water Valley, MS. Endearingly known as “Queenie” by her family, Faye was born August 12, 1945 as an identical twin daughter to Hettie Odell and Rubel Clinton Ledbetter in Batesville, MS.
Faye graduated from Bruce High School in 1963 and immediately went to work at Big Yank Factory in Water Valley as a pattern sequencer. In 1979, she transferred with the factory to Hattiesburg, MS and became a pattern designer. She also worked for numerous years at the Forest General Hospital as a Human Resource receptionist. In 2021, she returned to Water Valley building a new home with an immaculate yard. Faye moved her membership to Sylva Rena Baptist Church and quickly became an integral part of the church family. Her favorite memories were cooking for church members, participating in the Christmas program and assisting with Operation Christmas Child.
While in Hattiesburg, she was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She had an amazingly strong work ethic and spent as much time outdoors caring for her yard. Along with her sister Raye, they formed the “Faye and Raye Lawn Service,” where they helped family members with their lawn care. Faye loved her family and was known for putting others before herself in times of need. She loved cooking for family and friends and putting puzzles together. You would often see her outdoors walking her beloved companion, Cheree.
Faye is survived by son Tracy Glenn Patton (Theresa), of New Ringgold, PA, grandson Benjamin Patton, and granddaughters Kerrie Patton and Isabella Patton; her sisters, Raye Brooks (Frank) of Water Valley, MS; Phyllis Camp, Barbara Worley, one brother Gary Ledbetter (Pat), all of Banner, MS; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Guy Hillhouse, her second husband Ike Prine and brothers-in-law Charles Worley and Donald Camp.
Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Sylva Rena Baptist Church. The service will follow at 12:00 P.M. A viewing will be held at Hulett Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS at a later date. Faye’s burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery with her late husband Ike Prine therefore the family requests memorials be sent to Sylva Rena Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
