Mary Lou Forsyth, 76, passed away at home on December 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on December 28, 2023 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. There will be a private ceremony for family and church family on December 29, 2023 in the Henry Chapel, with burial following at Campground Cemetery. Her son in law, Kevin Stewart will officiate.
Mary Lou was born March 7, 1947, in Oxford, MS to Buford and Irene Baggett. Mary Lou married her high school sweetheart on June 1, 1962. She worked at Big Yank for many years, then she decided to pursue her passion and became a hairdresser. She ran her own successful business, “The Hair Shop” for 20 years until she was forced to retire in 2018 due to her cancer diagnosis.
Mary Lou was a faithful member and pastors wife of Friendship Baptist Church in Water Valley for over 40 years. She was grounded in her faith which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Mary Lou had many hobbies and special talents including gardening, painting, drawing, writing poetry just to name a few. She especially loved cooking and baking for her family.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Forsyth of Water Valley, her two sons Jimmy Forsyth (Denise) of Hernando, MS, Scott Forsyth (Angie) of Water Valley, MS and Melissa Stewart (Kevin) of Water Valley, MS. Six grandchildren, Keith Forsyth (Brittney), Kelly Forsyth, Hunter Stewart (Catherine), Logan Stewart, Will Forsyth, Nathan Cook (Amanda). Three great-grandchildren, Jackson Forsyth, Hudson Forsyth and Bently Mardis and a brother Webster Baggett of Hernando, MS. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Buford and Irene Baggett, 3 sisters, Myrtle Kitchens, Lucelle Pannell, and Evelyn Dickey, 2 brothers, Earl Baggett, Harold Baggett and one granddaughter, Shelbi Forsyth.
