Mary Helen Chandler

Mary Helen Chandler, age 89, of Water Valley, MS went to he eternal home December 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by those she loved. She was born in Pontotoc, MS October 3,1932 to Allie Alvin and Velvia Leona (Houpt) Quarles.
She married Clarence Criss Chandler on November 11,1950. Mary worked as a nurse’s assistant in Oxford for years before going to Yalobusha General Hospital where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring. Helen was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by her children; Kathy Melton of Oxford, Gary (Vicky) Chandler of Oxford, Judy (Joe) Potts of Water Valley, Randy (Martha) Chandler of Water Valley, Amy (Billy) Myles of Pearl, MS, Criss Chandler of Water Valley; a brother in law, John Tomaras of Illinois; a sister, Faye Tidwell of Oxford; Best friend, Peggy Miles of Pearl, MS ; seven grandchildren, Travis Inman , Shaun Chandler, Joshua Chandler, Kevin Chandler, Jasmine Chandler, Michelle Dees, Tina Chandler; ten great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
As well as her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Chandler; son in law William C. (Billy) Melton; two brothers James and Gene Quarles; three sisters, Anita McGregor, Paulette Serra, Virginia McCord.
