Marjorie Dickey Smith

Marjorie Dickey Smith, age 87, of Water Valley, MS went to her forever home Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born August 17, 1935, in Calhoun County, MS to the late Rex and Maggie Dickey.

Ms. Margie as she was lovingly referred to by all that knew her, married the love of her life, Callie James Smith on March 13, 1954. After graduating from Water Valley High School in 1955, they embarked on a lifelong journey of raising a family and serving their community. Margie worked as a seamstress at Glenn Slacks in Coffeeville and retired from Big Yank in 1980. She was the epitome of a southern Christian woman who, by her very nature, put everyone before herself. Margie was a faithful member of O’Tuckolofa Baptist Church where she served as the treasurer of the WMU for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir, taking trips with the O’Tuck Travelers, and cooking countless dishes for the many fellowships she attended. In her younger years, she loved fishing. She was an avid crocheter and made countless blankets for friends and loved ones over the years. She will be remembered by many for her kind and gentle nature.
