Margie Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margie Jenkins Smith, born on December 24, 1933, in Mississippi. Margie, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, departed this life on January 9, 2025, in Oxford, MS, at the age of 91.

Margie attended Water Valley High School and later pursued her passion for beauty by attending beauty school in Oxford, MS. She owned her own beauty shop, displaying her talent and creativity for many years. Additionally, she worked as a realtor in Tennessee and served as a regional director for Catherine's and Kar-hill Beauty Supply, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her work.

A passionate gardener, Margie found joy in digging in the dirt, nurturing her plants, and cultivating beauty in her surroundings. She was also an enthusiastic participant in arts and crafts, and she cherished the moments spent reading and engaging in community activities. Margie was a devoted member of Anchor Baptist Church before later becoming a member of First Christian Church, where she connected with her faith and community.

Margie is survived by her daughter, Marsha Moore; two grandchildren, David Moore, Daniel Miller; one great-grandchild; her sister, Barbara Baggett; and her brother, F.A. Jenkins, Jr.; and her nephew, Bruce Baggett. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, with a visitation occurring one hour prior at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Margie's honor. Her spirit of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Max Smith; daughter, Sandra Miller; and siblings Leo Jenkins, Ruble Jenkins, Mallon Jenkins, Harold Jenkins, and Raymond Jenkins.
