Mable Alexander Hervey, age 93, passed away October 8, 2019 in Wichita, Kansas. Mother Mable was born April 27, 1926, and was the fifth of eight children.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Pine Grove M.B. Church in Water Valley, MS. She remained a faithful and active member until she relocated to Wichita, Kansas.
Mother Mable met the love of her life, Ned Lee Hervey, and they were married on November 7, 1943 in Water Valley. To that union, eight children were born.
She worked on her father-in-law’s farm until they stopped farming. Later she found work at Mott’s chicken plant, and retired from Holley Carburetor, both in Water Valley.
Her divine gifting was hospitality, and she passionately worked as an usher, serving the sick and shut-ins, and visiting those in the nursing home. Mother Mable was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She had a passion for gardening, fishing, quilting, canning, and freezing food. She experienced great pleasure giving jars of her homemade jelly to others, and everyone loved her renowned Chow Chow.
Mother Mable was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ned, daughter Flora, grandson Amos Jr, sisters Louise Telford, Pearl Lewis, Myrtle Lawrence, Helen Mott, and brothers James and Cleveland Alexander.
