Linda Louise Cobern, age 57, of Water Valley, MS died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born August 23,1962 in Water Valley to the late James and Mary Lee (Crocker) Melton and worked the majority of her career doing factory work. She enjoyed, among many things, bingo, fishing, and riding four wheelers. But her heart was always pointed toward helping others. Especially in her volunteer work with the O’ Tuck Fire Department and Ambulance Service. She had a membership at Jumpers Chapel, but had more recently attended O’ Tuck Baptist church.
Visitation is planned for Sunday, October 27, 2019 in the Gardiner Room of Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Services will begin at 1:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2019 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS with Henry Simmons, Drew Kirk, Glen Melton, Sam Melton, Curtis Camp, and Eddie Kirk serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paxton Mullen, Quay Peacock, Butch Jones, and Robert (Boss) Crocker.
Linda is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry Cobern of Water Valley; one son, Chris Cobern of Water Valley; one daughter, Mary Lee Melton of Coffeeville; three brothers, James Melton of Ocala, FL, Glen Melton (Charlotte) of Coffeeville, and Andrew Melton of Gore Springs, MS; two sisters, Mary Parker (Patrick), and Betty Kirk (Drew) all of Water Valley; two grandchildren, Shannon Simmons, and Henry Simmons; and one great-grandchild, Chevy Simmons.
Along with her parents, Linda was preceded in death by one grandchild, Shayanna Simmons.
