Lavonia B. Treloar, age 97, a long-time resident of Water Valley, went to Heaven on July 2, 2019, at The Blake in Oxford. She was born on November 24, 1921 in Starkville, MS, to the late Filmore and Denola Betterton. Lavonia loved The Lord, her family, and serving others. Her favorite times were when the entire family came home, where she would cook a delicious meal, and everyone gathered around the old, large dining table to visit. She was a member of Sand Springs Presbyterian Church in Lafayette County.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 6, 2019 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at Sand Springs Presbyterian Church at Orwood in Lafayette County. Services will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM. Burial Will be in Orwood Cemetery.
Lavonia is survived by her four children: Suzy Strain, of Tupelo, MS; Jimmy (Patricia) of Oxford, MS; Jane Gray Benton (Ed) of The Villages, FL; and Jack (Debbie) of Mantee, MS; 8 grandchildren: Josie Strain, Gray (Christie) Strain, Jeffrey (Tricia) Treloar, Steven (Christi) Treloar, John (Katie) Eaves, Brooke (Ryan) Bobber, Jason (Susan) Treloar and Justin (Leigh) Treloar; and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James G. “Buster” Treloar; sons-in-law Clark Strain and Monty Eaves; 1 brother, Donald Betterton; and 1 sister, Louise Murphree.
