Joyce Marie Hall was born on September 8, 1947 to Clara Chapman Hall and Johnny Madison Hall; who preceded her in death. She was born 15 minutes after her twin brother Johnny C Hall.
At the age of 16 she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Pine Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnny Roland. She united in marriage to Norwood Burgess on September 2, 1967; to this union 3 children were born. In 2000 she united with her high school sweetheart, Willie Earl Judson. Willie and Joyce were married January 10, 2004. She and her new husband lived life to the fullest until his homegoing on May 26, 2017.
She leaves to mourn her passing one son Melvin Burgess (Brianna), San Antonio, TX; two daughters Greta Burgess, Canton, MS; Tamara Turner (Jerry); one stepdaughter Tiara Judson, Rockford, IL and one goddaughter Malinda Phillips (Terry). Three granddaughters Tierra Turner, Water Valley, MS; Morgan and Maya Burgess, San Antonio, TX; four step granddaughters Alexazandrea Turner, Southaven, MS; Shanti Judson and Diamond Fricks, Rockford, IL and Nyah Hall, San Antonio, TX and two grandsons Jeffrey Burgess, Atlanta, GA and Rotez Rockett, Water Valley, MS; one step grandson, Peyton Hall, San Antonio, TX; one great granddaughter Rhylee Jones and one great grandson Princeston Rockett. Three brothers Johnny C. Hall (Judy), Chicago, IL; George Benson (Queenie), Covington, GA; Ezra Hall, Water Valley, MS; one sister Mary Ann Folson (Freddie), Water Valley, MS. One brother Willie Hall, Jr. (Glenda), Memphis, TN and three sisters Ruby Mae Benson, Portland, OR; Maggie Caldwell, Water Valley, MS; and Hazel Charley (Curtis), Chicago, IL and one grandson Jervont’a Turner preceded her in death.
A host of relatives and friends are left to celebrate her life. Joyce loved people and helping others. She always said if she couldn’t help you, she certainly wouldn’t hurt you.
A wake is planned for Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the Tallahatchie-Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building in Oxford, MS with Rev. Amos Sims officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley, MS following the service.
