Jessie Wayne Burns, age 67, of Oakland, MS died Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his home on CR 46. He was born May 31, 1953 in Oakland, MS to the late Rex and Dorothy Little. When Wayne was three years old, he was adopted, and raised, by Bedford and Eloise Burns. Wayne was a very down to earth man that was passionate about his work. He worked for the state of Mississippi as a highway patrolman (E31) with troop E in Batesville, MS, and retired after 28 years. He loved the solace and quiet of the outdoors. He also loved to sing and was known to carry tapes and CD’s in his patrol car to sing along with during his shift. Wayne was a member of the Charleston Church of God.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Bro. Ken Watson officiating.
Wayne is survived by one son, Will Burns (Michelle) of Water Valley, MS; one Daughter, Kellie Burns Rogers (William) of Matthews, MO; two brothers, James Little of Scoby, MS, Charles Little of Grenada, MS; seven grandchildren, Keaten Burns, Laine Burns, Michaela Burns, Grady Rogers, Will Rogers, Charles Rogers, and Lola Rogers.
Along with all four of his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years, Gaynell Alldread Burns.
