Jeanette Terrell Marchbanks

Jeanette Terrell Marchbanks, age 83, of Water Valley, MS died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born July 23, 1936 in Yalobusha County to the late Clifton and Annie (Vick) Terrell. Jeanette and Claude were quintessential high school sweethearts. After graduating, they got married and began a life long journey together that took them from Ohio to Memphis and back home where, in 1977, they started and ran the successful Marchbanks Specialty Company. Jeanette “retired” two years ago, but continued to cook for the staff, which had been a custom for many years. While living in Memphis, Jeanette attended Barton Heights Church where she taught children's Sunday School classes, and was GA leader. It was said that you could see the gleam in her eyes for the ones that she loved, a trait that will not soon be forgotten.

Visitation is planned for Saturday July 25, 2020 in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery with Michael Fonte, Maddux Brown, Scott Darby, Joseph Flippin, Jay Tucker, Kendall Mullins, Shane Brown, and Gavin Darby serving as pallbearers.

Jeanette is survived by one son, Keith Marchbanks (Kathy) ; one daughter, Jeanenne Fonte (Joe), all of Water Valley; two sisters, Ann Marchbanks of Southaven, MS, Dot Benson of Olive Branch, MS; four grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Along with both of her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Terrell, Bobby Terrell, Nathan Terrell; and two sisters, Francis Stewart, and Mary Goodwin.

Seven Oaks Funeral Home’s number one priority during these unprecedented times, is the health of our staff, our families, our visitors, and our community. With this in mind, we are adhering to guidelines set forth by the CDC, Gov. Tate Reeves, and the Mississippi Department of Health. At this time, we are asking everyone to support the limited gathering and visitation policies mandated by our government officials, which include a maximum of 10 people in the funeral home, or alternate place of service, at one time for visitations and funerals, or 20 people at graveside services. We are also asking everyone to comply with the required social distancing space of six feet, as well as advising against intimate contact such as, hand-shaking, hugging, and kissing. Although it is not presently required, we are encouraging the use of face masks.
