James David Kisner, Sr., age 79, of Oxford, MS, passed away at his home Sunday, October 9, 2022. He was born April 27, 1943, in Water Valley, MS, to James Russell and Ethel Mae (Black) Kisner. James was a member of Taylor Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. His greatest thrill was when he was in the woods, deer hunting. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading, and following all sports. One had to be careful around him as he loved to pull pranks, as many of his hunting buddies can tell you. James was also described as being a teacher to kids and many others, often teaching them about the great outdoors. He loved spending time teaching the grandchildren to count and their colors. He will be dearly missed by all those that loved and cherished him.
A graveside service honoring the life of Mr. James will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 4:20 PM, at Browning Cemetery. Bro. Brennan Allen will officiate.
James is survived by wife Dorothy "Betty" Kisner, of Oxford, MS; his children, Deneise (Jim) Speakman, James Kisner, Jr., and Michelle (Lynn) Warren; six grandchildren, Justin Reid, Beth Brown, Christy Kisner, Blake Rusch, Will Warren, and Molly Warren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Mae Nell (Loyd) Clayton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell and Ethel Mae Kisner; and a brother, Larry Russell Kisner.
The family has asked that instead of flowers a donation to the Browning Cemetery fund would be greatly appreciated.
