Helen Floyd Burney, age 88, of Coffeeville, MS died Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born March 21, 1931 in Alva, MS to the late William and Fannie (Whittamore) Floyd and worked as a dietician for the City of Coffeeville School system. She enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening, working in her flowers, and mowing grass. But what brought her the greatest joy was serving and caring for others. She served as a member of Gatewood Church of God.
A graveside service to honor Helen’s life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2020 in the Coffeeville City Cemetery with Bro. Freddie Moorman officiating.
Helen is survived by two sons, Glenn Burney (Judy) of Coffeeville, MS, Barry Burney (Michelle) of Grenada, MS; one brother, Billy Floyd (Carolyn) of Greenwood, MS; three grandchildren, Jayla Ruschewski, Jeremy Ballard, and Demi Burney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Aaron Burney; and six brothers, Toby Floyd, James Floyd, Gilbert Floyd, Ray Floyd, Joe Floyd, and Jackie Floyd.
