Fredde "Dee" Young

Fredde "Dee" Nail Young, age 80, passed away to her Eternal Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, Mississippi surrounded by her family, staff, and friends.

Born in Oxford, Mississippi on September 6, 1943, Dee was the daughter of the late Ned and Model "Sis" Nail. After graduating from Ole Miss with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, she was employed at several places in Tennessee. She then moved to Mississippi and embarked on a successful career, working for Baker Trucking Co. and Brownie Crawford and Associates, both in Water Valley, Mississippi.

Dee was humble, thoughtful, loving, always prioritizing time with family and friends. Later in life and after retiring, she had a passion for crocheting scarves, potholders, and dish rags, which are a part of Fredde that will remain treasured possessions for many residents of Yalobusha County. She also greatly enjoyed photography and art.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Water Valley, MS. She held strong to her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For many of her last years, she was not able to get our and attend her church, but the highlight of her week was when the kids from church would come by her house to sing and pray with her.

Fredde is survived by two nieces, Jean Dodds and Patsy Simmons. She is also survived by many cousins, friends and the entire Brownie Crawford Family who held a very special place in her life.

Fredde was preceded in death by her Parents, Ned Nail and Model “Sis” Baggett Nail; and one brother; William Esker Nail.

Please note that there will be a memorial service and the burial will follow at Pine Flat Cemetery, Oxford, MS. The dates and times for these events are yet to be determined.
