Floyd Mike Callahand, age 82, of Water Valley, MS died Monday, January 11, 2021, at his home after an extended illness surrounded by family. He was born to the late Floyd and Mae (Blaker) Callahand on May 19, 1938, in Lafayette County, MS . Mike was a very easy going, down to earth man. He began his working career as a mail carrier for the University of Mississippi. Afterwards, Mike started working at Big Yank Manufacturing where he became a supervisor, and eventually plant manager, where he retired after thirty one years. Until his health precluded him from going, Mike was a very dedicated member of Camp Ground Church where he served as a deacon. He Loved to hunt, fish, and work in his wood working shop where he made many beautiful pieces.
A Family graveside service will be held in Camp Ground Cemetery, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, with Noah Callahand, Glen Callahand, Lynn Callahand, Tyler Callahand, Scott Mills, and Michael Callahand serving as pallbearers.
Mike is survived by his wife of sixty years, Clemmie Callahand; two sons, Mike Callahand (Kay), Don Callahand (Sherry) all of Water Valley, MS; two brothers, Robert Callahand (Jeanette) of Water Valley, MS, Jackie Callahand (June) of Paris, MS; one sister, Olean Copple of Warren Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Along with his parents Mike was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Melton.
