Flora Bell Bland was born on August 26, 1942 in Taylor, MS to the late Eddie McGee and Ossie Martin McGee. To this union twelve children were born. Four brothers Edward Earl McGee, James McGee, Chester McGee, and Tommy McGee proceeded her in death.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined North Hopewell M.B. Church of Taylor, MS. She later moved her membership and joined Everdale M.B. Church of Water Valley, MS. Where she served faithfully as church clerk, Sunday School teacher, member of the missionary society, Baptist Training Union Instructor and worked with the finance committee until her health faded.
She was married to the late David Bland; to this union three children were born. She transitioned to her new home on May 16, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.
She worked at Mott’s Incorporated, Big Yank Incorporated and retired from Parker Hannifin of Batesville, MS.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Linda Torrance of Water Valley, MS; two sons David Lynn Bland of Water Valley, MS and Jason LeShun Bland of Duluth, GA; five grandchildren, Brandon (Santana) Torrance and Jaleesa Lyntrice Torrance of Oxford, MS, Lyntonio Dontreal Bland and Antonio Lynshaun Bland of Memphis, TN, and Exavier LeShun Bland of Duluth, GA; one great-grandchild Sa’Naigh Torrance of Oxford, MS; Six sisters, Mary Ella (Miller) Backstorm of Joliet, IL, Daisy Walton of Water Valley, MS, Osceola (Paul) Knight of Joliet, IL, Loretta Betts and Diane McGee of Stafford, TX, and Luvenia (Howard) Philips of Taylor, MS; one brother Wille (Regina) McGee of Taylor, MS; one sister-in-law, Cindy Mcgee of Baton Rouge LA; three Aunts, Annie Curtis of Memphis, TN, Maudie Rockette of Water Valley, MS, and Roberta Johnson of Taylor, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A wake is planned for Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Everdale M.B. Church in Water Valley from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bland Family.
