Dorothy (Dot) Taylor Trusty was a lifelong resident of Water Valley, MS. Affectionately known as “Granny” to all who knew her, Dot was Born on July 3, 1930 to Beaulah McMinn Taylor and William (Bill) Taylor. She passed away peacefully at the Yalobusha General Hospital on November 29th in the presence of her family. Dot was a member of First Baptist Church Water Valley for over 70 years, where she served in the nursery, taught the youth, was a G.A. leader, and worked in the church library. She along with her husband Markley, was an active member in her community that she loved dearly and served faithfully for many years, to help make it a better place for others to live. She served as Past President of the Water Valley Jaycettes, Past President Water Valley Pilot Club, charter member of the Water Valley Town & Country Garden Club where she served as President from 1998-2000 and was the recipient of the Luella Fair Community Service Award in 2011. She was also Past Worthy Matron Water Valley Eastern Stars. She retired from Renasant Bank after 30 years of service where she worked in several different capacities.
Visitation is planned for Wednesday, December 1, 2021, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5:30:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Water Valley with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Dot was blessed with a daughter Toni Trusty Hill (Tommy) and son Mark Taylor Trusty (Lynne), both of Water Valley and a foster daughter Pattie Sue Peacock of Henderson, NV. She was Granny to eight grandchildren: Tina Hill, Dixye Dawn Peacock, Tom Hill(Carole), Tyler Hill(Jency), Callie Trusty, Taylor Anne Trusty, Sean Trusty, Jenna Trusty; four great grandchildren: Madison Hill, Layla Hill, Ashlyn Hill, and Cohen Trusty.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years Markley Trusty; one sister Peggie Basinger; and one sister-in-law Marie Axelrod.
