Donna Hollowell

Donna Rae Hollowell, age 88, of Water Valley, MS, passed away September 6, 2023, at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS.

Donna was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1935, in Taylor, MS to the late Earl and Vada (Herring) Deckard. She lived in the Water Valley area for forty years until work moved them to the West Point area for forty years. She eventually came back to Water Valley, which was always her true home. Donna was very family oriented, exploring her genealogy all the way back to Scotland, England, and Germany. Reading was one of her many passions. She would read anything she could get her hands on including mystery novels and Native American novels. A goal of hers was to read an entire novel a day, which lead to three hundred fifty four books being read on Amazon alone. She also enjoyed writings of the older Christian authors such as Charles Spurgeon. Donna was also an artist who enjoyed painting and wood carving. She also studied history, both old world history and Christian history. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother
who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, September 09, 2023,
at Pine Crest Cemetery in Water Valley, MS at 1:00 PM,
with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating.

Donna is survived by her son Kim (Diane) Hollowell of Water Valley, MS, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild,
and a host of bonus family as well.

As well as her parents, Donna is preceded in death by her husband Calvin Miles Hollowell, and her daughter Renee Gandy.
