Don L. Terry

Don Louis Terry husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1931, in Lakeland, FL. to the late Claude and Louise Terry.
Don grew up in Water Valley and graduated Jeff Davis High School in 1949. He served in the Navy from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean war. Don moved to Memphis, TN in 1956 where he began his career as an Industrial Engineer at Hart’s Bakery, which was owned by Mr. L.S. Hartzog. He became Mr. Hartzog’s right hand man and was instrumental in inventing the pressure cooker for Mr. Colonel Sanders for KFC and built assembly line bun bakeries for Mr. Hartzog and Dave Thomas (Wendy’s).
After many accomplishments in the baking industry including building the first automated bakeries in Australia and Singapore where he met his wife, Narumon, they moved back to Water Valley in 1987. Don and his wife Nallie opened Nallie’s Egg Roll restaurant on Central St. in Water Valley in 1994 until 2020.
Don loved to visit with his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved to travel, fishing and tinkering with motors. He kept things running long after their due date. He was also proud of his GMC Special Eagle Edition which he kept running for many years.

Don is survived by his wife of 37 years, Narumon (Naiile) Terry; his brothers, Johnny Terry and Randy Terry; his children, Debbie Habkouk, Tonja Stewart, Shane Terry, Thitiporn (Ohm) Sriprasert Whaley and Thanaporn (Aui) Sriprasert; his 7 grandchildren, Chase Habkouk, Maison Habkouk, Shelby DeVore, Landon Habkouk, Joshua Habkouk, Seth Stewart and Lance (Trey) Whaley 111; and his 9 great grandchildren, Forrest DeVore, Dallas DeVore, Ellie DeVore, Esja Habkouk, Ari Habkouk, Brayden Habkouk, Mila Habkouk, Móa Habkouk and Lillian Habkouk.

Visitation is planned for Friday, January 26, 2022, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Billy Childs officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
