Curtis Lane Hawkins, age 63, of Water Valley, MS died peacefully Friday, May 15, 2020 at his home. He was born July 1, 1956 in Water Valley to the late Leslie and Flora (Kerr) Hawkins, and worked in the maintenance department at Yalobusha General Hospital. Curtis was a down-to-earth man that never went anywhere without his unique smile. He enjoyed living the simple life with his love and soul mate, Sheila. His joys were fishing, hunting in the Hay Patch Hunting Club, gardening, and playing with his “Man” toys. But the closest thing to his heart was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with. Curtis was a member of Oak Grove CME Church where he served as president of the Trustee Board.
The family will be holding an intimate family service at Oak Grove Cemetery Monday May 18, 2020 at 3:00 PM.
Curtis is survived by his wife of twenty one years, Sheila Hawkins of Water Valley; three daughters, Sara Cotten (Clifton) of Madison, MS, Kara Rockett (Solomon) of Dallas, TX, Lucinda Walton of Water Valley; six brothers, James Hawkins (Mary), A.B. Hawkins, Tommy Hawkins (Louise) all of Water Valley, J.C. Hawkins (Queen) of Southaven, MS, William Hawkins (Shelia) of Oxford, MS, Scott Hawkins (Elouise) of California; four sisters, Grace Moody (James), Gwen Hawkins both of Water Valley, Bettie Hawkins and Mary White, both of California; as well as five grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by three brothers, Jonathan Hawkins, Troy Hawkins, and Freddie Hawkins.
