Charlotte Grass

Charlotte Brower Grass, age 83, of Water Valley, MS, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley. She was born April 8, 1939, in Water Valley to Ulus and Vera (Mosby) Brower. After graduating as class valedictorian, she left for Arlington, VA, with everything she owned packed in a suitcase. She attended Business School and upon completion, worked at the White House as a secretary under both the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations. While working in DC, she met the love of her life, Andrew "Jack" Grass, as he was serving in the United States Army. She was an army wife for 22 years, living all over the country and even overseas. Upon retirement in 1978, they returned to Water Valley, living the farm life which they both loved.

Charlotte is described by her family as being first, the daughter of the King and a devout Christian, self-sufficient, intelligent and nurturing. She held a great love for flowers, being known for her ability to grow any plant. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, clocks, other vintage items, and was an excellent cook. Charlotte was also an avid supporter of her community and surrounding communities, contributing whatever was needed.

Charlotte was married for 56 wonderful years to Andrew "Jack" Grass and together they raised their two children. She instilled in them independence, self confidence and was their biggest fan, supporting all their many endeavors. Charlotte will be greatly missed by many who loved and cherished her sweet spirit.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday November 9th at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm in the Gardiner room. The funeral service will be held Thursday November 10th at 11am in the Henry chapel, with brother Ronald Jenkins officiating. Internment will follow at Hopewell cemetery under the direction of brother Billy Childs.

Charlotte is survived by her children Jody (Dave) Leonard of Water Valley, Mississippi, and Curtis Andy (Leigh Anne) Grass of Fairhope, Alabama; her grandchildren Jillian Leonard, Elijah Leonard, Ashleigh Flora, Allison Castle, Anna Reed Grass; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
