Carolyn Brown Purdy, age 74, of Coffeeville, MS died peacefully Sunday, March 8, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 30, 1946 in Oxford, MS to the late James and Edna (Williams) Brown and served her family as a homemaker. She graduated from Water Valley High School and attended Wood Junior College in Mathiston, Mississippi. In her lifetime, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team and the San Antonio Spurs basketball team. More than anything though, Carolyn enjoyed the time she spent with her family, where she enjoyed cooking, especially her chocolate pies which were a family favorite.
Visitation is planned for Wednesday, March 11, 2019 in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Services will begin at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Nathan Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with James McNatt, Devin Green, Tristan Peacock, Nathan Purdy, Rhea Brown, and Ryan Brown serving as pallbearers.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 27 years, Luke Purdy; one daughter, Kari Smith Long of Water Valley; one step-daughter, Rubijo Purdy of Water Valley; one step-son, Jason Purdy (Emily) of Coffeeville; five grandchildren, Devin Green (Brittany), Tristan Peacock, Nathan Purdy, Mykayla Purdy, Madison Purdy; one great-grandchild, Easton Green; one sister, Anne Babb; one brother, Breck Brown (Carol) all of Water Valley; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by both of her parents.
