Carolyn Griffing, age 82, of Oxford, MS went to her eternal home Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at The Pinnacle assisted living facility in Oxford. She was born May 25, 1939 in Water Valley, MS, to the late James and Dorothy (Ramsey) Hunt. After high school, Carolyn pursued, and achieved, a doctorate in Counseling from Trevecca College in Nashville, TN. Having a passion for young people, she spent her working career as an educator in the Memphis City School system. The first twenty years, while she was pursuing her Phd., were spent teaching children from elementary all the way through Jr. High. Her remaining ten years, until she retired, were dedicated to counseling.
When not working, Carolyn loved shopping, gardening, and going to the beach.
Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 24, 2021, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Services will immediately follow at 5:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Jennifer Southall officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Carolyn is survived by two sons, Robert Hemphill, Case Griffing (Kat); and one daughter, Anne Hemphill.
Along with her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Hunt, James Hunt; and her twin sister, Katherine Ward.
