Carl was born on May 4, 1938, in Coffeeville, MS to John Henry and Minnie Mae Womble Vick. After graduating from Coffeeville School in 1958, he went to work at McQuay in Grenada, MS, and retired after 42 years. While working there he met many wonderful people who he remained friends with over the years.
Carl was a part of many various organizations throughout his life. He wore many hats over the years but thoroughly cherished his time with each one of them. He was once a part of the local CB radio group that started back in the day in Water Valley. Many knew him then and some still do now as “Lasso”. He was a devout member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS. In 1977, he became the caretaker of Hopewell Cemetery after his father’s passing. He took pride in his duty as caretaker that ended in 2005 but he remained willing to help assist families the best he could throughout the rest of his life. Carl was chairman of the Building and Grounds committee with the Yalobusha Baptist Association for over 20 years. He was proud to be able to work side by side with his fellow Christian brothers. He was a member of the Yalobusha Historical Society for many years. Throughout all of his life journey with these organizations, he made many life-long friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed getting his hands dirty in the garden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Minnie Mae Thomas Vick, one son Dwight Vick (Krista) of Texas, one daughter LaWanda Ingram (Michael) of Coffeeville, MS; one brother Thomas Vick (Nell) of Senatobia, MS; a host of nieces and nephews.
