Barbara Newman

Barbara Newman, age 77, of Water Valley, MS died peacefully Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 3, 1942 in Birmingham, AL to the late William and Ruth Milstead Campbell and worked 33 years for Borg Warner in Water Valley. Her joys were many, which included cooking and baking, especially yeast rolls and her famous hand made caramel cake. She was also fond of horse racing which she and Jeff enjoyed together. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley where she was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class.

Visitation is planned for Friday, February 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with John Ingram, Lewis Langdon, Lowell Edwards, Keith Edwards, David Jones, Marc Bryan, Forrest Bryan, and Lynn Walker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers will be Todd Prestage, and Keith Prestage.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 31 years, W.R. Newman of Water Valley, MS; three sons, Tim Bell (Marty) of Madison, MS, Lance Newman (Brandy) of Oxford, MS, and Chad Newman (Anita) of Water Valley, MS; one sister, Marcia Prestage of Water Valley; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one son, Jeff Bell.
