Alton "Bub" Blaker

Alton “Bub“ Blaker, age 84, of Grenada, MS died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada, MS. He was born April 24, 1934 in Water Valley to the late Alton and Laverene Blount Blaker. After receiving a bachelor's and later a master's from Mississippi State, Alton worked as a school teacher in the vocational field. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring old cars, and visiting friends and neighbors. Alton was a member of Jumpers Chapel Methodist Church near Water Valley.

Visitation is planned for Monday, March 4, 2019 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. An additional visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday March 5, 2019, with a service at 12:00 Noon in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Billy Childs officiating. Burial will be in Drivers Flat Cemetery with Michael Potts, J.J. Potts, Ken French, James Potts, Pete Potts and David Simmonds serving as pallbearers.

Bub is survived by his wife, Gladys Blaker of Grenada, MS; a daughter, Margie Potts French (Ken) of Water Valley, MS; three sons, Rodger Potts (Betty) of Water Valley, MS, James Potts (Robin) and Jimmy Potts (Patty) all of Grenada, MS; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Bub was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Blaker Griggs; and one grandson, Bryan Potts.
